Basic ways to drink

Umeshu is a liqueur designed to be enjoyed casually, and it can be drunk in a variety of ways.
Here, we introduce a few basic ideas for how to enjoy CHOYA. Don’t forget, Umeshu can always be enhanced by the addition of an ume!

  • Straight

    Simply chill and pour into a cold glass. Enjoy the pure taste of Umeshu made from 100% Japanese ume.

  • On-the-rocks

    Just pour over ice. A very popular way to drink Umeshu.

  • Hot CHOYA

    Mix Umeshu with hot water to warm yourself up in winter.

Cocktail recipes

  • CHOYA Sparkling


    · 1 part CHOYA
    · 2 parts soda

    Mix the CHOYA and soda in a highball glass. Serve over crushed ice if desired.

  • CHOYA Mojito


    · 45ml CHOYA
    · 2 tsp brown sugar
    · 8 mint leaves
    · 2 lime wedges
    · club soda to taste

    Muddle the brown sugar, mint leaves, and lime wedges together in a tumbler, add the CHOYA and a dash of soda.

  • CHOYA Gin


    · 7 parts CHOYA
    · 3 parts gin

    Mix the CHOYA and gin in a martini glass, serving over crushed ice if desired.

  • CHOYA Crushed ice

    Fill a martini glass with crushed ice, pour over the CHOYA.

  • CHOYA Kamikaze


    · 15ml CHOYA
    · 30ml vodka
    · 15ml lime juice

    Pour the CHOYA, vodka, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker, and fill with ice cubes Shake well then strain into a martini glass.

  • CHOYA Sunrise


    · 30ml CHOYA Shiso
    · 15ml amaretto
    · 10ml orange curaçao
    · 45ml pineapple juice

    Place a few ice cubes in a collins glass and add the CHOYA Shiso. Add the amaretto and orange curaçao, then slowly pour the pineapple juice over the ice cubes.

  • CHOYA Red + Champagne


    · 60ml CHOYA Shiso
    · 60ml Champagne

    Pour the CHOYA Shiso into a Champagne glass, top up with Champagne.

  • CHOYA Golden Bridge


    · 45ml CHOYA Honey
    · 20ml vodka

    Mix the CHOYA Honey and vodka in a martini glass.

  • CHOYA Honey + Champagne


    · 60ml CHOYA Honey
    · 60ml Champagne

    Pour the CHOYA Honey into a Champagne glass, top up with Champagne.

  • CHOYA Yuzu Fizz


    · 1 part CHOYA Yuzu
    · 2 parts soda
    · wedge of lime

    Pour the CHOYA Yuzu into a highball glass, top up with the soda, and add a wedge of lime.

  • Yuzu Mojito


    · 60ml CHOYA Yuzu
    · 8 mint leaves
    · a dash of club soda
    · crushed ice

    Muddle the mint leaves and CHOYA Yuzu in a tumbler. Add the crushed ice and club soda. Stir gently.

  • Yuzukaze


    · 3 parts CHOYA Yuzu
    · 1 part white curaçao
    · 1 part lime juice
    · ice cubes

    Pour the CHOYA Yuzu, white curaçao, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice cubes. Shake well, then strain into a martini glass.

  • Yuzu Frozen Margarita


    · 2 part CHOYA Yuzu
    · 1 part white curaçao
    · 1 cup of ice
    · coarse salt
    · mint spring

    Line the rim of a margarita glass with coarse salt. Add the CHOYA Yuzu and white curaçao to a blender, add the ice, and blend well. Serve into the glass and garnish with a mint sprig.
